ROXBURGH NOTES
CENTRAL OTAGO
/ (From Our Own Correspondent.) ROXBURGH, August 3. During the past week the barometer fell to 29.18, the lowest it has been for a long time. On July 28 wintry conditions prevailed and on Saturday morning the hills were covered with snow with a sprinkling on the lowlands. This disappeared during the day, but on Sunday morning there was even more, and the weather since then has been cold and rough, with frequent snow showers. The barometer has risen to 29.78, and the weather should soon clear. TEVIOT POWER BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Teviot Power Board was held on July 29. Mr T. P. Michelle presided and the following members attended:—Dr Gilmour and Mcssts George, VVaigth, Kinaston and M'Donald. Accounts amounting to £220 7s 3d were passed for payment. Revenue for the month amounted to £I2OO 8s Cd. The foreman reported that the plant was in good order and running well. The maximum load for the month was 780 k.w., which occurred on July 25. The following points had been connected to the system since last meeting:—One range, one water heater, four heating points, nine lights and 21 motors. GOLF. The final of the Men’s Golf Championship was played on Saturday last between N. M. Sandos and I). J. Simpson, the former winning by 10 up and 9 to play over 30 holes. The Junior Men’s Championship was won by K. Wright, who beat T. Sandos 2 up. The winner is a first year player. The Ladies 1 Championship was closely contested lietween Mrs Laloli and Mrs George, the former winning by 3 up and 1 to play. On Saturday last a men’s bogey match was played, J. Jeffery winning by 8 up.
