UNITED STATES NAVY

ELEVEN NEW DESTROYERS FIRST SINCE THE WAR (United Press Association.). - (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, Juty 13. Designs for 11 new destroyers have been completed. The Navy Department will advertise for tenders on Wednesday. The cost will be from 4,000,000 to 5,000,000 dollars each. These are the first destroyers undertaken by the United States since the war. The specifications call for 1500 tons, larger armament, somewhat longer cruising radius, and a higher sustained speed than the present vessels. They will be 35-knot vessels, the same as at present, but they will have greater weight and ruggedness so as to enable better speed to be obtained in heavy weather.
