FORESTERS. The C.R., Bro. R. Brown, presided over a. large gathering at Court Excelsior. No. 6128, A.0.F., meeting on July 7. An invitation from Court St. Andrew to a social and dance was accepted, the court to attend officially. P.C.R. Bro. W. Mearns presented the officers with a set of new regalia. P.C.R. Bro. Hodgkineon was appointed M.C. for the anniversary dance. At the close ot business members of the Mornington Association Football Club were given a heaity welcome by the C.R. A euchre tournament was held, the winner receiving a prize. At supper the president ot the Mornington Club (Mr C. E. Hall) thanked the court for its invitation. PROTESTANT ALLIANCE. The fortnightly meeting of Valley True Blue Lodge was held in the Orange Halt Leith street. W.M. Bro. Austin occupied the chair, and was supported by a toll roll of officers. One candidate was initiated into the Order, the ceremony being conducted by the junior officers in a very able manner. General business was thei; proceeded with. The sick visiting committee reported on the work during the past fortnight, and sick claims were passet for payment. Visitors from No. . Triumph and No. 41 Loyal Excelsioi Lodges were admitted and made welcome Two candidates were proposed as mem bers. The W.M., Bro. G. Austin, re ported on the church service which hac been held in the Hanover Street Bap tist Church. Other items of interest were discussed, after which the lodgt was closed, when visitors and fnendt were admitted to the hall. Dancing games, and cards were indulged in. Sistei Henderson officiated at the piano, am Bro. Raynor played for the dances. - humorous sketch by Mr Abbott and i humorous recitation by Mr M Millan wen very much appreciated. The following items were also given:—Guitar solo, Mi West; songs—Bros. Jackson. Dean, am Bachop, Sister Clare and Sister Ander 6011. ODDFELLOWS. LOYAL CENTENARY LODGE. In commemoration of the twenty-firs anniversary of the founding of the Loya Centenary Lodge, a smoke concert wa held in the Forbury Corner Hal 01 Saturday' evening. There was a larg l and representative attendance of visitor from sister lodges, and the members o the Otasro District Executive were pres ent in full force. The permanent secrc tary of the Lodge, P.P.G.M. Bro. B. H Rosevear, occupied the chair. After the loyal toast had been honourc “ The Otago District ” was proposed b D. Bro. Riach, of the South Car terbury district, who referred to th strong position of Otago in relation other districts of New Zealand. Bro. uho spoke of the early struggles ot the lodge particularly during the war period At one time it was thought that it would have to amalgamate with a stronger lodge but, thanks to the energy and enhus asi of a few members, the lodge was kept on its feet, and from that date, about 192 J, t had never looked back. It was now a surplus lodge ,of the district and the trustees were wise in leaving the invest ment of their funds m the hands of the district trustees. He paid a tribute to the helpful work and guidance of the peimanC ’\tX ? s ta stage P.G. Bro. Lyons the promoter of the lodge, lit the candles on the birthday cake presented by P.G. Bio. ' Landry, of the Albion Lodge. The N.G., Bro. E. Harrison, replied to the toast of the lodge, and thanked tliose present for the way they had turn up to do honour to the occasion. The permanent Secretary then gave brief resume of the history of the lodg- ! since its inception. He mentioned that nine of the original members were still on the roll, and he was very pleased to see three of them present that evening. „ The toast of “ The Original Members was proposed by P.G. Bro Lyons. -the lodge, he said, was formed because it was thought that a branch of the Order should be established in South Dunedin. Graham presiding. It was decided that the name be altered to the Mosgiel United Band of Hope, and that meetings should be hold on alternate Fridays from 7 to 8 p.m. The officers will consist or the president, vice-presidents, secretary, treasurer, pianist, and a general committee, consisting of two members from each local church, who shall be responsible tor securing two items from their J’Odng people for the fortnightly programme, ihe following officers for the ensuing year were appointed:—President, Rev. W. E. Lambert; vice-presidents, the local ministers and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union representative; secretary, Mr C. A. Aitken; treasurer, Miss L. M. Aitkeu; pianist. Miss Gladys Weddell, and Master D. Mitchell, guardian. The weekly meeting of the Hope of Dunedin Lodge, 1.0.G.T., was held on Wednesday, C.T. Bro. Clarence South presiding over a good attendance of members. Visitors were present from the Rescue i Lodge, No. 105, and Hope of Caversham, No. 128. Correspondence was received | from Bro. lies, grand councillor, and the j Hope of Caversham Lodge. A good report was received from the juvenne branch. The evening was in the hands of Bro. Poole, and some new competitions and games were played. A report on the jumble sale was given by Sister George South, and it was decided that the next , evening should be fancy dress. The Silver Star Juvenile Temple held its weekly meeting in the Good Templar Hall, Harrop street, on Wednesday. Sister Raynor, A.S.J.W., in charge. C.T. Bro. K. Rowe (Rescue Lodge), and Sister Cromarty; steel guitar solo, Bro.; J. Sipitn; conjuring tricks, Bro. Rowe; pianoforte solo, Sister Fraser. Supper was provided by the members, and the visitors were accorded a vote of thanks by Bro. W J. lies, of the Rescue Lodge, Sister Williamson, from the Star of Freedom Lodge, and Bro. E. J. lies, from the Sunshine Junior Lodge. Bro. W. D. Campbell spoke on the objects of the Order, and the chief templar invited any of the friends to become members The Beacon Juvenile Temple met on the previous Saturday, P.C.T. Bro. Frank Fordham presiding over the meeting, as this was brothers’ night, and the offices were filled by brothers. The evening was spent m playing games, : . The Star of the South Temple met in the Kensington Hall on Tuesday; Sister Jessie Cameron in the chair and Bro. Hilton in charge. Bro. Turnbull and Bro. Rowe spoke to the children. A surprise packet was passed round and peanut races were run. ■ . The Rescue-Lodge, 1.0.G.T., met in the Kensington Hall on Tuesday, Bro W G. lies in the chair. Bro. W. A. lies, P C T., was reported to be making steady progress back to health; Sister Dalton continuing much the same. Bro. Stanley conveyed greeting from 'the Hope or Caversham Lodge.
