Steadman) reported that the roll number had now reached 726, the average attendance tor June being 660. The inclement weather and cold tended to disturb the attendance, and on two occasions during the month the attendance had fallen below the'point of exceptions. Miss Weir has settled down to her duties, and promises to be a source of strength to the staff. Some 60 pup l ' B were taking advantage of the facilities provided. The soup provided by the Salvation Army was of excellent quality. The treasurer reported that there was a bank balance of £94 Is 9d. Several complaints were received regarding the attitude taken by the lady doctor, who was now visiting the school. It was decided to write to the Otago Education Board for a ruling as to whether it was compulsory for the children to be examined by the schools’ doctor, against their parents’ wishes.
