TO THE EDITOE. Sib, —For some time past the great problem facing most people has been that of living within their means—if they had any. Now that a “ cut ”is being made in wages it is going to he a bigger problem still. Can anyone tell me when the cost of living is coming down? We bear a. great (Teal, of talk about the price or bread, which can be procured for lOd per 41b loaf, if one feels equal to carrying it home. Now, can your readers tell me which they would rather see on the table —a 41b loaf of bread,or lOd worth of so-called wine biscuits. These biscuits .are nothing but flour, water, and a scrap of margarine or butter, whichever is the handiest at the time. Fancy water biscuits at 8d per lb, and we all know the sustaining power of these eatables. “ Profiteering ’’ is ndt the word.
