CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL PREVIOUS DECISION REVERSED. (Peb United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. After a long debate on wages the City Council decided last night, by nine votes to eight, to make a reduction in the salaries of its officers ranging from 15 per cent, in the case of those receiving £IOOO and over to 8 per cent, in the case of those in receipe of £350 and over. On this occasion the two Independents voted with the Citizens’ Party. A fortnight ago the council, by a majority, decided against the imposition of the 10 per cent. cut. AUCKLAND TRANSPORT BOARD’S DECISION. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 16. The Auckland Transport Board has decided to reduce its salaries and wages by 10 per cent, as from July 1 for a period of three months, but the “cut" is not to apply to the first £IOO of any employee’s salary or wages. The effect of the “ cut ” will be a general reduction of 6i per cent.
