MISTAKEN FOR MALEFACTOR
VISCOUNT NEARLY A&REST&) PRINCE OF WALES’S TOUR. An entertaining story is told of how the chief of the Buenos Aires police nearly arrested Viscount Edman during one of the scrambles round the Prince of Wales in his tour of the exhibition grounds on the opening day. Viscount Ednam, like many other members of the royal party, somehow got- detached from the main body in the confusion and crush, and 'was making a valiant attempt to rejoin them when the police chief, not knowing whom he was keeping back, equally valiantly sought to restrain him in the belief that he was a malefactor trying to molest the Prince. The situation between the two men was becoming decidedly heated, and the stout defender of the law was threatening to arrest his man, when the Prince’s Scotland Yard man came on the scene. He was able to make the necessary explanations between the two, who both laughed heartily over the comedy of mistaken zeal. During the subsequent tour of the grounds with General Uriburu, the Argentine President, the Prince was lionised to such an extent that the bluejackets had to come to the rescue.
