The chairman gave a brief account of some of the activities of the Guidance Committee during the interval since last meeting and mentioned some promises of financial support. , Mr Aldridge presented a carefully thought out report drawn up by the subcommittee of which ho is convener. Before making an appointment of a parttime vocational guidance officer this subcommittee had the responsibility of considering and reporting upon certain necessary preliminary measures and arrangements. The discussion which followed the adoption of the report was both interesting and informing. Because of its extreme importance it was ultimately referred back to the sub-committee for further thought about a few details. Mr J. R. Fairbairn, the convener of another sub-committee, presented an encouraging report which was unanimously adopted. To take certain steps in preparation for work proposed to be done in the near future, Mr Jones moved, and Mr Steele seconded, that the following executive committee be set up to undertake the duties suggested:—Mr Fairbairn, Mr J. L. Salmond, Mr Baird, Mr Aldridge, and Mr Currie. Mr Mitchell gave a most encouraging report from the City Council and some most useful information regarding what, is being done for boys employed on farms by the Unemployment Committee and of promises made to them. The discussions in which the majority present took part were convincing evidence of the enthusiasm and of the activity of the General Committee and of the intense application and painstaking research of the sub-committees. The chairman thanked the members for their attendance, for their eagnerness to help, for their keen interest and willing co-operation. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the president for his able conduct of the meeting.
