ST. HILDA’S COLLEGIATE SCHOOL

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I should be much obliged if you would allow me to ask Bishop Richards, through your columns, why the name of the late Primate is never mentioned in connection with St. Hilda’s Collegiate School? I always understood that Bishop Nevill founded it 35 years ago, that it was at his invitation the Sisters of the Church came out here, and _ that he financed the school at the beginning. I may be mistaken, and it would be interesting to know the truth. In all the functions connected with the change-over of the school from the Sisters to the diocese I have noticed the omission of Bishop Nevill’s name. In the prospectus asking for the help of the parents and “ old girls,” it was stated that the school was founded by “ the bishop.” Which one? may I ask. And in the sermon preached at St. Paul’s Cathedral this afternoon to past and present girls his name was still omitted. Will it be so in next week’s functions also? I have heard other people commenting on this very noticeable omission, and, as I think yon will agree, it is certainly a most unusual proceeding to ignore, so markedly, the name of the founder. —I am. etc., „
