ADVENTURE OF THE AIR
NEW ZEALANDER’S FLIGHT CROYDON TO INVERCARGILL. (From Oue Own Correspondent.) LONDON, March C. Last Friday Captain Andrew Moffat, of Invercargill, arrived in England by the s.s. Baradine. As the result of anticipatory negotiations, he took possession of a Bristol Jupiter aeroplane, and has planned to start off from Croydon to-morrow in an attempt to fly to Invercargill. He has tested out the machine, and is quite satisfied with it. It has a speed of 150 miles, and a cruising range of 2000 miles. His first step will be from Croydon to Belgrade. After that the route to be followed will be by way of Aleppo, Rangoon, Singapore, Bima, Wyndham, Cairns, Sydney, and Invercargill. No publicity has been given to the flight in this country.
Captain Moffat joined the Australian Air Force in 1919, and was afterwards in the New Zealand Air Force for a year. Seven years ago. he . transferred to the Eoyal Air Force'-ftf-Lndia, where he remained until , a ®f;;ago. After leaving India, he returned to Invercargill until he set out for London and for his great adventure.
