DRAINAGE BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board was held last night, the Mayor (Mr R. S. Black) in the chair. There were also present Messrs J, Wilson. W. Begg. J. J. Marlow, J. B. Shaddock, F. Mitchell, W. A. Scott, and J. Beattie. WORKS COMMITTEE. In moving the adoption of the Works Committee’s report, Mr Wilson said that under Mr Noble Anderson a jarrah rising main had been constructed at the pumping station. Later, a steel 1 one had been installed, and when it was found , that an additional waterway was found necessary it was decided, on the recommendation of the board’s engineer, to utilise the old timber to construct it. The life of this timber was now spent, and the main required renewing. The first section had already been put in, and the cost, in round figures, would be about £7OOO. Referring to the clause in the report relating to the condition of the stormwater culvert which discharges into the Kaikorai Stream, Mr Wilson said that this matter bad been investigated, and authority had been granted the drainage engineer to proceed with the construction of three new mud tanks pt an estimated cost of £SO. He wished, however, to have the portion of the clause stating that this cost would be payable by the City Council deleted. The report, with the deletion of the clause mentioned, was adopted. FINANCE COMMITTEE. The report of the Finance Committee was adopted without discussion.
