Several films of bird life have been made by Mr J. P. Ritchie, of Johnstone, a member of the Council of the Scottish Society for the Protection of Wild Birds, with the object of helping the work of the society. These will be made available for public lectures. Among the birds which the films show _in their natural surroundings are kittiwakes, guillemots, puffins, shags, black-headed gulls, moorhens, lapwings, and buzzards. There is also included a film of the evacuation of the inhabitants of St. Kilda, which is believed to be the only one in existence. Many requests have been received by the society for the exhibition of the films. If you are keeping a weather eye on expenses —burn Kaitangata coal. —Advt.
