WANGANUI-TARANAKI CENTRE.
TO-NIGHT’S MEETING. (Per United Press Association.) WANGANUI, February 18. Entries for the Wangamii-Taranaki centre electric light meeting to-morrow evening are the best received since the national championships here last year. The entries are from clubs from Wellington to Now Plymouth, and the three American athletes, Rothert, Kiser, and Simpson, will be seen against strong opposition in some of the events. The meeting of Don Evans (Dominion title holder) and Rufus Kiser in the halfmile promises to be a great race. Both are tit. Kiser is better than he has yet felt on the tour, and Evans has been in strict training for some time. In the half-mile Kiser will also be against Ogg (Wellington provincial champion) Hamilton (Stratford), and Strange (Palmerston North). The same men are expected to provide Simpson’s strongest opposition in the 220 Yards. In the shot putt Rothert is giving up to 17 feet, and will lie on scr in the broad and high jumps.
