BURNS CLUB CONCERT.
The Dunedin Burns Club held its monthly gathering in the Early Settlers’ Hall last evening. There was a large attendance, and a very entertaining programme of vocal and musical items was provided. The president of the club (Mr G. Currie) was chairman. In the course of his remarks he referred to the suffering caused by the disastrous earthquake recently experienced at Napier and Hastings. The members of Burns Club sympathised with the sufferers. The president mentioned that the Burns anniversary function held on January 26 was a great success financially and otherwise. He referred to the gift of five volumes of the work of Burns to the Dunedin Public Library by Mr M'Gilvray Watson, of Invercargill. The volumes originally belonged to Gilbert Burns, brother of Robert Burns, and were brought to Otago by the Philip Laing. The Dunedin Library was fortunate in securing such valuable works.
