BRASS BANDS’ CARNIVAL.
REASON FOR POSTPONEAIENT. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 11. In connection with the postponement of the brass bands’ carnival. Air H. D. Bennett, president ‘of the .North Island Association, stated to-day that before the earthquake occurred at all the question of postponement had been discussed, a number of bands having then already cancelled their nominations. Since the earthquake the number of senior bands which had been considered certainties had been reduced from 13 to four. The last contest had resulted in a loss of £4OO, and in the face of this and the outlook being so bad, Air Bennett said the chances of the contest adding much to the earthquake relief funds were not healthy.
