BRITISH BY-ELECTIONS
THREE PENDING. (British Official Wireless.) (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, February 5. (Received Feb. 6, at 5.5 p.m.) A by-election is necessitated in Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, owing to the resignation of the Labour member, Mr Mardy Jones. At the general election, in a three-cornered contest, he had a majority of 6000 over the Liberal candidate and 17,000 over the Conservative candidate. Other by-elections pending are Fareham (Hampshire) and East Islington. THE EAST TOXTETH CONTEST. WON BY CONSERVATIVE. LONDON, February 5. (Received Feb. 0, at 9 p.m.) The East Toxteth by-election, which was caused by Mr Henry Mond’s elevation to the peerage, resulted as follows: Buchan Hepburn (Con.) .. 17,040 Charles Burden (Lab.) .. 5,550
