At the general election, in a three-cornered contest, he had a majority of 6000 over the Liberal candidate and 17,000 over the Conservative candidate. Other by-elections pending are Fareham (Hampshire) and East Islington. THE EAST TOXTETH CONTEST. WON BY CONSERVATIVE. LONDON, February 5.
