CONCILIATION COUNCIL.

Mr W. H. Hagger, conciliation commissioner, presided over a sitting of the Conciliation Council yesterday, when an industrial dispute concerning the Otagoand Southland lime workers was considered. 1 Messrs J. Robinson, H. Armstrong, and A. Wilson represented the applicant union, and the assessors for the employers were Messrs A. S. Cookson, J. H. Stewart, and J. Doherty (Winton). The union asked that the existing award should be continued, except in respect to wages and term of-award. An all round Increase was asked in the existing wages. The employers filed as counter-pro-posals the existing award, subject to a reduction of 20 -per cent, of the rates of wages therein prescribed. After a brief sitting an agreement was reached on all clauses of the existing award, except as regards wages and the term of the award. These two points will come before the Aebitration Court for decision.
