WORKERS’ EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION.
SUMMER SCHOOL AT WAIMATE. The tenth summer school of the Workers’ Educational Association was opened at Waimate with a general meeting of members, presided over by Mr G. Manning. This year’s school promises to be very successful, members having come from all over the South Island, and as far afield as the North Island. Dunedin, and Christchurch’ are strongly represented. The buildings of the Waimate High School and the Waimate Public School are being used by members. Plans for the week were discussed, and various committees were appointed. At the conclusion of .the meeting a concert programme was rendered in, the Church of England Schoolroom by members of the school. The serious work commenced on Saturday, the panel of lecturers beings—Mr W. J, Scott, M.A., “The Negro w Modem American Drama"; Mr P. Campbell, M.A., “Economic Problems of New Zealand Mr L. E. de Berry, M.A-, “International and Imperial Ideals ; Mr W. T. Thomas, M.A., “The Romance of Words.”
