Ministerial. A Press Association message from Wellington states that the Acting-Prime Minister has received a radio message from the Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes) that he will arrive at Welling* ton by the Ulimaroa on January^^O^ Dr E. Marsden, permanent secretary of the Department of Scientific and Indus* trial Research, who has been in England during the last few months, will return to New Zealand towards • the end of February. Professor J. Rankine Brown, of Victoria College, has been elected to fill the vacancy ( on the Academic Board of the University of New Zealand, caused by the resignation of Professor D. M. Y. Sommerville. _ The retirement of Mr J, Hutchison, district traffic manager for the middledistrict of the North Island, with headquarters at Ohakune Junction, is announced. Mr Hutchison joined the service as a cadet 40 years ago at Auckland, and since then has filled Various positions in New Zealand. He has been three years afc his present post, and prior to that was indoor assistant manager at Wellington.
