(From Ocb Own Correspondent.) ALEXANDRA, December 28. THE WEATHER. The weathei' for the Christmas holidays has been excellent. Warm sunshine has been greatly appreciated by the ever increasing number of tourists and holiday makers who chose Alexandra for their holiday. SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC. The annual picnic of the Alexandra Presbyterian Sunday School was held on the beautiful grounds of Earnsclengh, station on Boxing Day. The sports programme was in the capable hands of Mr A. Ashworth. The results of the races were as follows :—Girls, six to nine—Gretta M'Kellar 1, Jean Riach 2; boys, six to nine— J. Hollows I, J. Lunn 2; girls, nine to twelve—Connie Walker 1, Peggy Forest 2; hoys, nine to twelve —B. Thomson 1, G. Bryant 2; Junior Girls’ Bible Class— Marjory Beilby 1, Cathie Smith 2; boys’ potato race—G. Russell 1, p. Symons 2j girls’ threading the needle race—M. Ashworth 1, M. Drysdale 2; boys’ three legged race—Sam Corrigal and H. Beilby 1, B. Gardner and .P. Symons 2; girls’ skipping race—Rita Beilby; visitors’ race—Olivia Rolands 1, Alma Parker 2; young lades’ race— Joan Bould I, Mona Lopdell 2; married ladies’ race—Mrs E. Russell and Mrs R. Snow (dead heat); girls’ three legged race—Vera Walker and Doris Beilby 1; married men’s race—E. Russell 1, C. Symons 2; wheelbarrow race—lan Thompson and Alfred Harkness 1, T. Sanders and Erie Jackson 2; Youn<* Men's Bible Class race—Horace Beilby 1, R. Thompson 2; girls under nine not having won a race—P. Symons 1, A. Taylor Cannon 2, A. Campbell 3; boys under nine not having won a race—B. Gardner 1, M. Lunn 2; girls’ race, nine to twelve—J. Riach I, P. Taylor Cannon 2; girls’ race, six to nine—D. Hewitt 1, J. Hewitt 2; tug-of-war-senior Bible Class boys beat Church Managers. ‘ BOWLING TOURNAMENT. The Alexandra Bowling Club’s annual tournament was continued on Boxing Day in delightful weather. The rinks were played, leaving one or two more games to be played. Mr W. Hewitt again proved his capabilities as a tournament secretary. The following are the results of the play:— First match.—D. Bee’s rink 12, T. Sunderland’s rink 17; R. Watt 16, J. Davidson 20; W. Buist 15, W. Hewitt 20; C. Smart 14, P. Miller 20; J. Gardner 11, R. Jack 27; Wethey 18, G. Stevens 15. Second match.—D. Bee 20, R. Watt 5; T. Sunderland 7, J. Davidson 20; W, Buist 18, C. Smart 12; W. Hewitt 27, R. Miller 12; J. Gardner 8, Wethey 19; R. Jack 24, G. Stevens 15. Third Match.—D. Bee 12, J. Davidson 17; T. Sunderland 18, R, Watt 20; W. Buist 25, P. Miller 17; W. Hewitt 29, C. Smart 12; J. Gardner 19, G. Stevens 14; R. Jack 15, Wethey 13. Semi-final.—W. Hewitt’s rink 18, R. Jack’s rink 14. Ho play; J, Davidson’s rink v.- W. Hewitt’s rink. If Hewitt’s rink wins he takes the victory, but if Davidson’s rink wins the latter has to play off with R. Jack for the final. Singles.—Devanney 14 beat Cavanagh 13, after playing an extra head. Final.—P. Devanney (Milton) 21 beat P. Farrell (Milton) 14. PERSONAL. The Rev. V. G. Bryan King, of Dunedin, is at present on a visit to Alexandra. Misses Mavis and Rita Wilson, of Milton, are visiting Alexandra. Mrs M. M'Lay, of Invercargill, is at present on a visit to Alexandra. Miss Mary Walker, of Pareora, is on a visit to her mother at Alexandra. Mr G. L; Denniston, of Dunedin, is on a visit to Alexandra, and is staying at Earnseleugh station. Miss W. Arnott, of Dunedin Training College, is spending her vacation here with her parents. Mr J. R. Hand, of the Public Trust Office, Wellington, is spending his annual leave in Alexandra. Mr and Mrs A. R. Wardrop, of Dunedin, are enjoying a camping holiday at the Fraser River. Mr and Mrs G. F. Fox and family are spending a camping holiday at Shag Point.
