HEAT WAVE IN SYDNEY

The city at present is in the throes of a heat wave. ‘ The terrific heat and humidity yesterday caused the death of. a man and the collapse of 30 other persons. Christmas Shoppers suffer. SYDNEY, December 23. (Received Dec. 23, at 11.30 p.m.) The heat wave in New South Wales continues, and some country registrations to-day were as high as lOSdeg. Christmas shoppers in Sydney suffered the utmost discomfort in busy thoroughfares, where a number of women collapsed, and received first aid, while at least 20 shop girls fainted. The shade temperature to day was 93, with 43 per cent, humidity.
