Anzac remains the favourite saddle horse of King George, or would it be truer to say his favourite horse in the Royal stables? Though the .King has done so little riding this year, he lias had a charming composite portrait done of the Australian mount. Mannings painted a group of heads of Anzacs in various positions, and, evidently, in various moods. There is a full-sized figure in the centre and three or four beautiful studies of the head, some of them done with so light a touch that they seem caught just as the horse flashed by the artist’s eye. The picture now hangs in a stable which has been converted into a little theatre and dance hall for the royal coachmen and their families.
