KINGSFORD SMITH’S PLANS. REPORTS OF PACIFIC FLIGHT. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, December 19. (Received Dec. 21, at 5.5 p.m.) The Evening Sun’s Oakland (California) correspondent reports that Wingcommander Kingsford Smith’s brother asserted that the Australian aviator is en route for the United States. It was stated that 1 he contemplated making a non-stop flight from Oakland to Tokio in the spring time and would possibly be accompanied by his wife, A prize of 25.000 dollars is being offered for such a flight, and it is suggested that Wingcommander Kingsford-Smith would make it in a special single-motored monoplane which is under construction in California. MRS MILLER IN HOSPITAL, NEW YORK, December 19. (Received Dec. 21, at 5.5 p.m.) Mrs Keith Miller entered hospital today for treatment for internal injuries. She is stated to have suffered from kidney trouble since her plane crashed at Jacksonville on December 14. PLANE COVERED WITH ICE. OCCUPANTS KILLED IN CRASH. BERLIN, December 19. Though daily meteorological aeroplanes become ice-coated they usually land safely, but to-day Dr Steiner, a meteorologist, with a pilot, carrying ont wind measurements at Konigsberg, reached a region of intense frigidity at 22.000 feet. The machine was covered with ice, and the rudder was frozen solid. The plane crashed, and the occupants were killed instantly.
