BANNED ITALIANS
TWO ARRESTS MADE. FIFTY-TWO RETURNING HOME. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY,. December 20. . Two Italians, alleged to have escaped from the Otranto, were arrested at Goulburn. The Orford sails this morning with 52 Italians, who have been detained since their arrival on December 3. DISTURBANCE ON WHARF; POLICE PREVENT ESCAPES. SYDNEY, December 21. (Received Dec. 21, at 7.45 p.m.) The banned Italians aboard the liners Orford and Otranto created a disturbance at the Woolloomooloo wharf before sailing time yesterday. A large number, defying the guards, broke ship and reached the wharf, but the police and officials managed to stem, the rush and prevent escape from the wharf precints, Finally the Orford’a captain managed to persuade the discontented men to re-embark. They were concerned about their landing money of £4O apiece, which, the captain told them, must remain in the ship's custody till they returned.
