CANADA AND AUSTRALIA
FULL DETAILS NOT DISCLOSED,
(United Press Association.)
(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) OTTAWA, December 18. On the grounds that Mr Moloney insists that revelation of the nature of the new treaty would handicap Australia, Mr Stevens refuses to divulge the details, which will be announced first in the Australian and Canadian Parliaments.
Both Ministers declare that the pact ia highly satisfactory and will lead to greatly increased trade.
An official statement on the tentative Canadian and Australian treaty will not be issued until next week. Mr Moloney will be back in the capital on Tuesday. The statement may be a joint one.
STATEMENT BY MR MOLONEY,
OTTAWA, December 18. (Received Dec. 19, at 9 p.m.) Speaking at Windsor, Ontario, on Thursday, Mr Moloney said: “ The more we buy from one another the more we can sell to one another, and on that basis we hope to be able to effect an agreement and a trade treaty. Apart from the fact that we are sister dominions and have much in common there are many commodities which we require and which Canada can produce, just as there are many things Canada requires which we can supply.”
