NEW TRADE TREATY

CANADA AND AUSTRALIA. A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) OTTAWA, December 16. (Received Dec. 17, at 8.30 p.m.) A tentative agreement has been reached between Mr EL H. Stevens (Canadian Minister of Trade and Commerce) and the Australian Minister for Markets (Mr Parker Moloney). It will be laid before the Federal Cabinet on Wednesday, and if it is approved details respecting it may be made public. Officially it is stated that Mr Maloney does not anticipate any difficulty when the agreement is submitted to the Australian Government. Following upon the conference on Tuesday, Mr Maloney and his party were the guests of the Dominion Government at a . dinner, after which the Australian Minister boarded a train for Toronto. Later he will go on to Quebec, where ho will spend Christmas. He will then continue his journey to Vancouver on his way home.
