BURNS CLUB.
MONTHLY CONCERT. The monthly concert of the Dunedin , Burns Club was held in the Early i Settlers’ Hall last night, a fair audience ; being present despite tho many eountepattractions. j The president (Mr Q. Currie), who I occupied the chair, remarked that the at* tendance was smaller than usual, pro* | bably on account of the many school 5 break-ups which were being held. He : announced that arrangements for the an-. niversary concert were well in hand. this was the last concert for 1930, ho would take the opportunity of wishing all members of the club and other patrons the compliments of the season. ' The concert was, ns usual, commenced with a bagpipe selection by Piper W. Budge. The choir, under the baton of Mr F.C. Cooper, sang three part songs in- a very acceptable manner. , The songs were ’* Scotland Yet,” “ Bonnie Woods o’ Craigielea,” and “ The Lad Who Wore the Plaidie.” The remainder of the programme was as follows;—Song, “ The Rowan Tree,” Miss Helen Roy; song, “Mary,” Mr D. Lyons; Scottish recitation, “ John Davidson,” Miss lona Livingston ; song, “ The Heart That’s Free,” Miss Winuie Collier; national dance. Miss Flora MacDonald; song, “ Mary of Argyle,” Mr J. Simpson; song, “ Star o’ Robbie Burns,” Miss Jean M'Gregov; accordeon solo, “ Scottish Airs,” Mr D. Smith; song, “ Auld Scots Sangs,” Miss Lilian M'Douald; recitation, “ His First Long Tramp,” Miss Norm a Ncwcy; duet, “ Coral Sands of Hawaii,” Mrs T. Stedmaa and Mrs J. Kerr; song, “ A Guid New Year,” Mr J. Paterson. The accompaniments were played by Miss E. Wright. At the conclusion of the programme the usual short dance was held.
