| PROTESTANT ALLIANCE. • Lodge No. 0 met on Thursday in the Lodge Hall, Kensington. The lodge was presided over by W.M. Bro. George Hellyer, assisted by Chaplain Bro. d. Matthews and P.M. Bro. The Sick Committee reported on its visits and claims were passed for payment. The inn 6 tllen adjourned. There were present and about 200 adults. It was decided that the installation take place on January 6, 1931. The Social Committee reported on the Christmas treat, and requested members to see that their children were brought along. A ■nearty vote of thanks was accorded to the visitors. Several members responded, and spoke in glowing terms of the progress of the' Valley Lodge. P.M. Bro. Drysdale and Gilland were elected delegates to the Grand Council, Un Saturday the lodge entertained the children to the long-lqoked-for yearly treat, when sonie 240 children were present with their parents. Games and competitions were played during the evening. There were alao_ several songs and recitations by the visitors. A vote of thanks was accorded to the performers, the organist, Sis. Henderson, and to all those who had assisted to make that the most successful social yet held by the-lodge. The evening was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem. GOOD TEMPLARY. The weekly meeting of the Hope of Dunei D Bodge took place on Wednesday, when C.T. Sis. Annie Steedman presided oyer a good attendance of members and visitors from Rescue and Hope of Caveraham Lodges. Correspondence was received from Sunshine Junior Lodge and International Supreme Lodges, It was reported that a sister was very ill, Bro. Williams reported on having collected for the juveniles’ break-up. The item for the evening was Box,” and many amusing and instructive questions were answered. The members then had parlour games. After the completion of business, the item on the syllabus was carried .out, and several interesting impromptu

speeches and discussion on various subjects were given. The C.R., Bro. G. Berwick, presided over an exceptionally large attendance at the meeting of Court King Edward’s Pride ,oti November 27. A letter of appreciation was received from P.C.R. Bro. J. Burn for the attention he had received from the woodwards during his long illness. The invitation from Court Woodland’s Pride was accepted. The resignation of P.C.R. Sister Churchill was accepted with regret, owing to her approaching marriage, and the best wishes of the members were conveyed to Sister Churchill, who was not only the first sister to be initiated into the court, but was also the first sister to attain the rank of P.C.R. Bro, Fraser reported on the social for the Christmas tree fund, which promised to be a successful event. P.C.R. Sister Fraser reported she had been deputed. to convey fraternal greetings from her court, Court Epuni, Petono, to the members. Three new members were duly initiated. Official visits were received from Courts Saint Andrews, Excelsior, and Enterprise, and the card tournament was advanced another stage. After cards, dancing was indulged in to music provided by P.C.R. Sister Fraser. The fortnightly meeting of Court Pride of Gore was held in the oandroom, Gore, on November 27, when C.R. Bro. Ferguson presided over a good attendance. One member was reported on the sick funds. The invitation from Court Star of the South to attend officially at Invercargill on December 11 was accepted, and arrangements were made accordingly. One new member was accepted into the court, and following the business meeting a pleasant time was spent in dancing, games, and competitions.
