AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

CLUBS’ PROTECTION ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Otago Amateur Athletic Clubs’ Protection Association was held in the T. and G. Building last night, Mr A. Restieaux presiding over a fair attendance of members of affiliated clubs.. The following report was presented and adopted. The association was successfully carrying out the work for which it was instituted. Affiliated clubs recognised the benefits to be 'derived by membership and the assistance the association gave them in collecting subscriptions. During the year 89 names had been submitted to the association, and of these 39 had been settled with their clubs after receiving notices from the association, leaving 50 to be added to the defaulters. During the year five of those already on the defaulters’ list had settled with their clubs and their names had been removed from the list. The funds of the association were in a satisfactory position. Mr Restieaux, in moving the adoption of the annual report, referred to the benefits of the association, and trusted that clubs would give the association every support, as they all must recognise the help the association gave to clubs in getting in their subscriptions. He also referred to the necessity of associations endorsing the defaulters’ lists, ns it was only in this way that defaulters could be prevented from receiving the benefits of membership of clubs. It was decided to write the various governing bodies nsking them to see that those on the defaulters’ list were prevented from taking part in games under their jurisdiction. The following were elected the officebearers for the ensuing year President, Mr W. A. Rowland; secretary, Mr E. S. Wilson; hon, auditor, Mr G. A. Nelson; committee—Messrs A. Restieaux, P. Vallis, H. Glengary, W. Titchencr, A. Robinson, and Ritchie. The secretary. submitted the names of those who had allowed themselves to become defaulters during the past year, and it was resolved that these names be printed and distributed amongst the affiliated clubs.
