CIVIC RECEPTION IN SYDNEY. CHEERED BY HUGE CROWD. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph— Copyright.) SYDNEY, October 23. (Received Oct. 23, at 10 p.m.) A civic reception was tendered to Wing-commander Kingsford Smith today, many leading people in public life, aviation, and business being present. A huge crowd cheered Kingsford Smith when he entered the Town Hall. The Lord Mayor (Alderman Marks) said that Kingsford Smith had set a standard of sane flying which it would be well for others to emulate. Australia was proud df-Smith, who had made such valuable contributions to aviation. The other speakers included Sir Edgworth David, Kingsford Smith, in a characteristic reply, expressed his deepest appreciation of the amazing welcome, which he would never forget.
