CANADIAN IMMIGRATION

STRINGENT REGULATIONS. THOUSANDS TURNED BACK. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph— Copyright. I OTTAWA, October 21. (Received Oct. 22, at 1.30 a.m.) Thousands of people are being refused admission to Canada under the stringent regulations initiated by Mr Bennett six weeks ago. These are mainly from foreign countries, but the Customs are interpreting the new strictures regarding British people as preventing the admi° sion of those who are likely to take jobs away from Canadians during the-present depression. A number are being turned down from Australia and New Zealand and apparently the new regulations have not been explained there yet.
