(Fbom Odb Own Corbespondent.) BALCLUTHA, October 21, UNSEASONABLE WEATHER. The weather since yesterday afternoon has been very stormy and cold. To-day n high westerly wind has been blowing, with fairly frequent squalls of rain and sleet. The wind was so strong that it is said to have toppled over a truck on the Gatlins line at Glcnoman. last night. An old resident of Inchclutha states that this is the worst October weather he can remember for very many years. CALEDONIAN SOCIETY. The sixty-third annual meeting of the Port Molyneux Caledonian Society, held on Saturday night, was presided over by Mr Peter Abernethy (vice president), and there was a good attendance of members.

Before the business of the meeting was proceeded with a short adjournment took phfCS out of respect to the' memory of two members who had died during the year, Messrs A. K. Campbell and James Shiels. The secretary (Mr A. M. Wylie), in presenting his annual report, said the exeputiye had again to congratulate the sppiety on the 'success' of its operatipns. The annual sports on New Year's Day had resulted' in' a profit of £3l 3s, compared with £l2 2s 2d in 1920. During the year the membership showed a decrease of IE), being now 50. The total receipts for the year were £2OO 18s 6d, and the expenditure £205 8s 6d. Conimoncing the ypar with a credit balance of £221 6s, the society closed with a credit balgnce of £225) 16s. Included in the expenditure was the sum of £lO 10s granted to the Clritha County Council to assist with the construction of the road to Kororo Creek, and also £2O 14s spent in tppdressing, etc., at the fpprts ground- Thy report qnd balance sheet were adopted, and Mr P. Aberncthy pras olqqted president, vice Mr \V. Mcnnell, who had left the district. Mr A. M. Wylie was re-elected secretary for the twenty-fifth year in succession, apd Mr Eric Paterson was appointed assistant secretary; vice-presidents—Messrs D. H. Tilson and P. Laughton j treasurer, Mr J. Wright (re-elected) ; auditor, Mr J H. Bates; press steward, M r C. M. Murdoch, with the usual list qf judgps. assistant?, and starters. ' •

At the annual meeting of shareholders qf the Haitangata Co-operative Dairy Facfpry Company it was agreed that a 6 per cent, dividend on all fully paid up shares as at the end of the financial year be paid, and that tlie profit at the end of the year be devoted tp paying fpr the alterations tp plant, which had been necessary at the close pf last season. The meeting devoted some tiine to a discussion on the Vexed question of standardised cheese, apd eventually agreed to tjie rewdupoq grafted by the Sputh Island Dairy Association asking the Minister of Agriculture to cancel the regulation permitting the manufacture and-expprt pf standardised cheese, anff to grant tp the Dairy Produce Board Statutory authority to enable It t° put into operation a national scheme of premium payments for quality on a sliding scale, as recommended by the director of the Dairy Division. Mr J.' P, Rutherford, chairman of directors, presided oyer the meeting, and the two retiring directors (Messrs W. J, Rosa and T. Jphnstqn) were re-elected unopposed.
