GERMAN AMBASSADOR
' DEPARTURE FROM LONDON. WARM PRESS TRIBUTES. (British Official Wireless.) (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, October 2. Dr Sthamer/ the first German Ambassador to Britain since the war, who has just retired from the diplomatic service after representing his country at the Court of St. James for over 10 years, left London this morning for Germany, accompanied by Frau Sthamer. Yesterday they were received by the King and Queen, and had lunch with their Majesties. The King and the Foreign Secretary were represented when Dr Sthamer and his wife departed this morning, and there was a remarkable gathering of friends and colleagues of .the Diplomatic Corps, including the French, Belgian, Polish, Turkish, and Brazilian Ambassadors, the Norwegian and Bulgarian Ministers, and the Austrian Charge d’Affaires.
Several newspapers to-day pay warm tributes to Dr Sthamer, who was extremely popular and highly respected in London,
