The collapse of the City Equitable Fire Insurance Company, of which Mr Bevan was chairman, in 1922, was followed by the issue of a warrant for his arrest on a charge of fraud. After a trial lasting 12 days Mr Bevan was sentenced to seven years* penal servitude. Since hie release eome years ago he haß published 5 volume of poems.
