(Received Sept. 14, at 5.5 p.m.) A young man named Lancelot Saidler was shot dead in an Elizabeth street wine bar on Saturday afternoon. It is alleged that he demanded money from the proprietor, who refused. Saidler then threatened him .with a razor. In the resultant confusion a fatal shot, was lired. It is stated that Saidler had a bad record. He was vaulting the'wine bar counter when the proprietor, E. A. Good, fired his revolver, as he told the detectives, in self < defence. The New South' Wales Transport Trust, having been told by the treasurer that the tramways must pay their own ■costs has decided to restrict its services except during peak periods.
