LEECH LYRIC CHOIR.

On Wednesday, the Leech Lyric Choir will present for the first concert two works in direct contrast. “The Revenge” is a ballad of the fleet by Lord Tennyson, set to music by Villiers Stanford- “The Rebel Maid,” Montague Phillip s charming opera, is in lighter vein, for freshness and charm are strikingly exemplified in this work. The music is jolly and refreshing, and there is noi a dull moment. It is the style of opera that sends one home humming the pleasing melodies, which are full of arresting appeal. Mr Leech’s choir musters 120 voices. A first-class orchestra supports the production, which will be directed by Mr John T. Leech. The principals are Miss Valda M'Curdy, Miss Noni Davidson, Messrs William Ruffell, L,. Harrison Stubbs, T. D. White, and James Simpson.
