ALBANY STREET SCHOOL.

SOCIAL REUNION. The annual reunion of members of the Albany Street School Association was held in the Albany Street Hall last evening, and took the form of a dance, interspersed with musical and elocutionary items. Mr Fredric welcomed everyone to the reunion, and eaid.it was 50 years since ns left school, hut it did not seem so long as that. He had had very much pleasure in going to the school to present the pictures which had been donated by the old scholars in Dunedin. Messrs Alexander and Leslie were unfortunately absent ■ from the reunion, and he was sure that' they all missed them. He could only say that he hoped the evening, would be a very pleasurable one to them all, and would like to express, the hope that something would be done in the matter of a new school, as the present one had been in .use for so long a time. Looking round the school he could not help thinking of the time that had gone, and of those with whom he had been associated when they were all youngsters. The teaching was different, but he could not forget Mr J. L. Ferguson, the master. He had had a great influence on the minds of those he taught, and one could not help realising the great responsibility that rested upon those teaching in a school. The lady teachers had great control over the youngsters, who appeared to be well disciplined.' A great leader in China had erected over Sa tomb " Spirit never dies,” and the spirit of Albany Street School would never die.. Those growing up. to-day would be in tinje to come as proud of it as •he was. . THe hoped the evening would-be a very happy one. The evening's programme was. then opened by four of the boys belonging, to Albany Street School Brass Band playing a quartet, under the direction of Mr A. W. Alloo. Dancing followed. During intervals two of the boys played a. duet. Mrs D. E. Ewart, Miss Alison Tyne, and Mr A W, Alloo contributed songs, and Miss Audrey Watson gave a recitation. Mrs A. Matheson acted as accompanist. Mrs Osborn supplied the dance music, Mr W. J. Watson officiating as M.C. Tne hall had been decorated for the'occasion by Mr J. Bowers, with the assistance 01 the ladies. The supper was supplied, and dancing was kept up till about midnight.
