OTAGO v. HAWKE'S BAY. \* ’ ’ The representative match between Otago and Hawke’s Bey will be' played at Cansbrook this afternoon, commencing at 3.15,' . and_ it should provide an interesting exhibition of Rugby. The Hawke’s Bay team is a good all-round side. The forwards are big and fast, and include Qyril Brownlie, the All Black. The backs are also a solid lot,, and include B. Grenaide, who played so well when Hawke’s Bay last .Visited Dunedin. The Otago team is > the strongest side that has represented the province this season, and the appearance of M’Skimming and Millar, the two country players, will be watched with interest. Garisbrook is drying fast, and if the. weather continues fine should be in good condition. Mr Q. Mansion will act as referee. '
RANFURLY SHIELD. WELLINGTON ISSUES 1 CHALLENGE. ■ (Pkb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 12. The Wellington Rugby Union decided to-night to issue a challenge to Southland for the Ranfurly Shield, and to notify that the match at Invercargill on September ,3 would be the match for the shield. Mr J. N. Millard, sole' selector,'has been appointed manager for the southern tour.
