HOT BOX ON TRAIN.
THE LIMITED DELAYED. (Special ic Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, August 11. A hot-box on the (le luxe sleeper on the Limited express delayed the train’s arrival at Auckland by two hours 35 minutes to-day. The' express was a particularly heavy one, consisting of 13 vehicles. When it left Wellington last evening every berth was taken and every sea i occupied.' Usually the Limited consists of a total of seven cars and the guard’s van. Trouble with the hot box ’’ commenced when Koputaroa station was reached, and there was a delay of 17 “minutes. 1 * At Otaki another 30 minutes were lost, and at Palmerston North 27 minutes were taken in effecting temporary adjustments. From thence oh-, wards delays were frequent, the total time lost on the journey ' amounting to 172 minutes. At Waiouru the flames were so great that the guard of the train had to turn the hose on them. At Kakahi similar precautions were taken bn account of the flames breaking out. When the Limited arrived at Te Kuiti this morning it was decided to put the de luxe sleeper off. The passengers were all of one party, bound tor Frankton, and they were accommodated in other parts of V train till their destination was reached.
