COLUMBA COLLEGE’S NEW PRINCIPAL.
I An Aberdeen University graduate, Miss Grace Mackintosh, who resides at 28 Hammersmith road, Aberdeen, has been appointed principal of the Columba Girls' College. Miss Mackintosh is a daughter of the late Mr John Mackintosh, LL.D., author of "The History of Civilisation in Scotland," and other works, and was educated at Marischal College during the years between 1010 and 1014, when she graduated M.A. with honours in English literature and languages. The holder of many university prizes, including the first English Essay Prize, Miss Mackintosh received her teaching training at the Cambridge Training College for Women (1914-15), qualifying for her teacher's certificate in the theory, history, and practice of teaching in 1915. Her teaching experience has been varied. In August, 1915, she went to Buckie Secondary School as temporary principal teacher of English, where she remained until January, 191<$, when she secured an appointment as teacher of English and history at Inverness Royal Academy. Since 1918 Miss Mackintosh has been assistant teacher of English and history at Aberdeen Central Secondary School, teaching junior and advanced English, and practically all the senior history of the school. She is herself a former pupil of the school, and one qf the promoters and first secretaries of the Former Pupils' Club, in which she acted for four ■ years as representative on the School Management Committee of the Aberdeen Education Authority. | Miss Mackintosh left for New Zealand at the end of July. ,
