GOOD TEMPLARY.

The meeting of the Rescue Lodge International Order of Good Templars was held on Tuesday in the Oddfellows' Hall, King Edward street. There was a fair attendance of members and visitors. Bro. E. J. lies, L.D., presided, and one candidate was initiated. Notice of the forthcoming meeting of District Lodge was received from the district Secretary. Re-. ports were given of several menibers on the sick lirt and from visitors to the Juvenile 1 Temple. The quarterly reports from the Finance Committee showed the lodge to be in a sound financial condition, tand that the membership bad increased since last report. The secretary, treasurer, and Syllabus Committee also submitted reports, the syllabus for the new term, including several hew/features. One member applied for the district > degree/and Bro. 9. M'Cartney was re-elected secretary. The installation of officers will take place at the next meeting, when a good attendance of members and visitors 'is expected. • The Star of the South Juvenile Temple met in the Oddfellows’ Hall, King Edward street,.on Tuesday, and was presided over by Chief .Templar Bro. . The Star of 'Victory Juvenile Temple held a most successful concert in the Kaikorai Presbyterian Sunday School Hall on Monday, July 21. There was a good attendance," and the proceeds were in aid of new regalia. The programme consisted of songs, recitations. Highland dances, instrumental items, and a dialogue' by the juvenile members, assisted by outside talent. At the close of the concert, Bro, Dalton, G.C.T. presented medallions to Sister J. Hamilton and Bro. J, M. Plett for bringing in most members, and Bro. Hilton’s prize went to Bro; J. M. Flett for temperance recitations. Bro, J. W Todd occupied the chair. Chief Templar Sister. shine Junior Lodge, No. 4, held in the Church of Christ Sunday School Hall on Friday, when there was .a large attendauce of members, also visitors from Hope of Dunedin, No. 155, Star of Freedom, No 5, Hope of Caversham, No. 128, and Beacon Temple; No. 27.,, One candidate was initiated, and one member applied for the bronze seal degree. The sisters provided a "mysterious” parcel which caused great amusement among the members. A very interesting temperance address was delivered by Bro. W. D. More. Real life incidents were used to describe pitfalls induced by false glamour; “ Beautiful Danger ” would aptly name the address, which was listened to with keen interest by those privileged to hear it. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker Superintendent Sister D. Sell was in charge of the session, which closed with the usual ceremonies. A social evening was held by, the members and friends of the Sunshine Junior Lodge on Saturday evening in the lodge room, and a really pleasant evening was spent, supper and the entertainment being provided and controlled by the respective committees pf sisters. An enjoyable evening was brought to a close with the .singing of "Auld Lang Syne.”
