"THE RUNAWAY GIRL."

The box plan opens to-morrow, for the eight-night season of “ The Runaway Girl,” which will he staged by the Dunedin Operatic Society, at His Majesty’s Theatre. The society has two productions a year. The first offering was “ Our Miss; Gibbs.” The music is beautiful; anfi. the society has been wise in selecting this beautiful two-act comedy for the present venture. The society has an active membership of over TfiO performers. A selected orchestra of 20 musicians had been specially engaged, and will be under the baton of Mr Kirk-Burnnand, the musical director of the Society. Mr Stan Lawson has been in charge of the ballet, and dancing plays a very big part in the production. The secenery ' and dressing are also elaborate. A. particularly strong group of principals has been selected, including Messrs Wilson-Brown, H. Roberts, A..Lungley, N. Scurr, and J. M’Farlano, and Misses L. de Clifford,.- E. M'Peak, Anita Winkel. T. Northey,; and Gwenda Burt. Mr C. Coekburn and Miss V. Lamb, who created ’ such a good impression in “ Our Miss Gibbs ” last year, will also appear. Mr F, H. Dampen has been in charge of the production, being associated with the stage manager, Mr T. Wynne.
