MARINE RESEARCH.
, TO THE EDITOR. Sis,—Under the above and similar headings numerous Tetters have appeared in. your, paper referring 'to the work of this station, both past and present, as well as references and comparisons about tnyself. These letters have erroneously stated that little or no work has been achieved during _ the existence of the station and previous to my appointment last January. Such statements are contrary to fact, as local papers and scientific records, prove. Many of the writers nave acclaimed me as qn authority on fish and other marine life. This is most incorrect, and misleading, and I would stress the point tluJ; I am quite a beginner, having, a great deal to learn on both fish and other marine forms. I wish it to be publicly understood that .in no manner am I responsible for such letters, whose comparisons are odious to all concerned -with this station, and I would deem it a favour if these correspondents ceased to air their views in such a public manner.- I aim etc., ■ ■ , David H. Graham, Biologist. Marine Fisheries Invertigation and Biological Station, Port Chalmers. June 14. ,
