MR SHAYLE .GARDNER’S. IMPRESSIONS. (From 6ce Owrr Correspondent.) ’ , LONDON, May 8. Mr Shayle Gardner has returned to London for a short stay. During the course of a conversation with the film correspondent of the Evening News the New Zealand actor remarked: “ Tragedy lurks round every corner in Hollywood. The amount of uuem ploymeht is terrible. Not more than one in 20 among the film colony has regular work. The others do any sort of menial job to £eep alive. They become, waiters *atad waitresses, chauffeurs - anything that will keep them near oj in the studios. “ They exist from day to day in the hope that some director will notice them or that some emergency will arise, which will give them the magic chance., Many! of them, I am sorry tp say, are Englishmen..
