TECHNICAL v. HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS. High School Old Boys, after two Saturdays without, a match, turned out on Saturday and suffered defeat by 4 goals to 1 at the hands of Technical Old Boys. It was a good,_ fast game, but Technical w ere the superior team throughout. Technical won the toss and played with a slight breeze in their favour. Play was confined to midfield for a few minutes after ,the kick-off until Technical broke away on the left Warnock shot and the goalie fisted out. Middlemass headed it buck but again the goalie fisted clear, the ball boing to Witchall, ■ who opened the scoring. Technical 1. High School nil. Play went up and flown the field, both teams attacking in turn, Hamel, High Schools inside fight, shot from about 30. yards out. Holden going down to save, let the ball slip through bis knees. High School ,1, Technical 1. 1 . Almost immediately from the kick-off Technical pressed, and from a melee in front of goal Groves scored for Technical. Technical ,2, High School 1. Chapman, at centreTialf foi School, was playing iTfell, pushing his forwards throughout but. they missed several good opportunities. Playing under’ ideal conditions: Northern defeated Maori Hill by two goals; to on e. at Logan Park. Maori Hill lost the toss, and kicked off. Brown at once sending his forwards away: Thomson (Northern) was responsible for breaking up several movements on Maori Sill s right wing, but Coates was having a strenuous time with Balk and Welsh Northern broke away, but Taylor returned, and Balk gaining possession,’ dashed up the field, but his parting shot swent astray. Northern-returned to the attack, and from a faulty clearance by a defender the ball travelled to Faithful, who made no mistake from close in. Half , was called soon after, with- Maori Hill on attack. The. second. spell opened .-.with,■ Northern breaking in on Hill’s short passing and making things merry for the; Reds’ defence; Taylor (right-back) was ■ now showing better judgment, and saved on several occasions. Turner- (left-back), due to an injury received-is the first spell, was shaky at times. Hill then came away with pretty passing, but Carse held on too long. . Hill kept\pressing for. some time, but could not score. Northern .then attacked, and a long bass, to Westlake, .who appeared l to' be offside with two-, other players, resulted in this player scoring Northern’s second goal. Shortly after this Baynes, '.who was playing at centre forward for Hill, had to leave the field with a head injury. This handicap seemed to spur Hill-on, and from a cross.fay Balk, Olliver, scored. Play now Became very ■ fast, with Hill forcing play,. Brown, and then Balk, went close, ~but nothing resulted; and the game, controlled by Mr R. Fox, ended— . Northern ,V .. 7. .. '2 goals.' Maori Hill .. 1 goal. PORT CHALMERS v. MGRNING- .... v ton. Playing against Mornington on the Unity ground. Port Chalmers registered its first win of the season. The result was well deserved, as the team displayed plenty of dash and a fair amount of good football. . Port won the toss, and Mornington attacked' from the kick off,- M'Gregor testing Camp. in goal, who gave away a resultless corner to'save. Play vvas fairly even, both sides attacking, but failing to take advantage of opportunities. Kaye, •with a fine drive from well out, narrowly missed scoring for Mornington, - whilst Port lost a good chance through Ives handling the ball. Following another movement by Port, Montgomery’s shot just missed. Mornington transferred May with a free kick for offside, and A. Young hit the crossbar with a good shot, the ball going outside. Port returned to the attack, which proved without advantage, the shooting being Badly directed Port were penalised for hands, the kick being taken by Donaldson, who opened the scoring. Mornington 1, Port nil. The score was unchanged at half time. . Resuming in the second half. Port showed great dash, and kept Mornington on defence, weak shooting by the for wards again being evident, and no scoring resulted. Following a free kick for hands, Port’s defence was hard pressed, and both Connolly and Agnew missed narrowly. Play went- to the other end, where Port nearly scored, hut returning to the attack. Latta drew the scores equal with a good shot. This success livened up the Port players, who took the aggreseive, and Rankme was called on to cleat a low shot. ’ A. Ives and thy two fullbacks were prominent in keeping play in Mornington’s area, and from a series of attacks Ives was successful in drawing the goalie, and sending the ball into the net. Port 2, Mornington 1. For the remaining period of the game the play was evenly contested, and the ball moved rapidly from end to end without advantage to either side, Mr J. Davidson was referee and the game ended; Port Chalmers 2 goals. Mornington .. .. .. .. 1 goal. MOSGIEL v. Y.M.C.A. A fair sprinkling of supporters witnessed the Mosgiel-Y.M.C.A. match at Mosgiet, The home team .was successful in defeating the city eleven, after a fast and hard tussle, by 5—2. The Mosgiel icorers were Porter (two), White, Steven, and Skinner (one each), while Warnock and o*Rorke goaled for Y.M.C.A. Final ’core: — - Mosgiel .. ... .. 5 goals. . Y.M.C.A. 2 goals. Mr R.
