AMATEUR BOXING.
A final try-out before the Otago amateur championships is afforded local amateurs by the open boxing tournament to be held at His Majesty’s Theatre tonight, and as the leading schools will all be represented the Otago Boxing Association should be able to present a wellvaried programme. The boys are now beginning to reach their best form, and as the entries are of a most satisfactory nature some fine contests should be witnessed, more especially among the lighter divisions, in which a good array of talent has come forward. Otago has several promising amateurs at the present, time, and as most of them will be participating j ll j : “ e , forthcoming tournament a good deal of interest will be attached to their appearances in view of the fact that the Otago and New Zealand championships loom ahead. From the stalls and circle an excellent view of the proceedings may be obtained, and the association should be greeted with a full house. In all, 12 bouts will be staged. The draw is as follows; .. v ■ Light-weight.—D. Campbell v W. M Laujjhlau; F. Wood v. W. J. Whitty. Feather-weight.—R. Leckie v. W. Lang; R, Beal v. (J, Labe; T. Bryce, a bye. Bantam.—tJ, Craik v. C. Leader; J Richmond, a bye. Fly-weight.—F. Pine v. H. Cannon. Watt dd e ' Welßllt ‘~ W ’ Gamble v - J- _ Welter-weight.—H. Fraser v. L. Groves. PROFESSIONAL BOXING. SHACK v. SARRON. , Otugo_ Boxing Association has completed articles for a professional boxing contest between Sammy Shack and Pete Sarron. The contest will be staged at the Drill Hall on Saturday night.
