BRITISH TEAM’S TOUR. ARRIVAL AT NEW PLYMOUTH. (Per United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 22. The British footballers arrived at New Plymouth by train at mid-day from Wanganui and were welcomed by Miff. J. Goodwin, president of the Rugby Union, and officials; , and softer lunch were given a civic reception. The afternoon was spent in a motor drive round the district. Sobcy is limping badly, and is likely to he out of action for some days. THE COLOURS QUESTION. NEW ZEALAND TO PLAY IN WHITE JERSEYS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 22. The New Zealand Rugby Union has decided to adhere to its original decision on the question of colours for the All Black team in the test matches with the British team. The New Zealand representatives, therefore, will take the field in white jerseys, black shorts, and black stockings with white tops. This decision was made at a meeting of the New Zealand Union this afternoon, the proceedings being held in committee. A letter is to be sent to Mr James Baxter, manager of the British team, expressing the union’s appreciation of the sportsmanlike action of himself and his team in offering to play in white jerseys, but stating that the union considers that its original decision should be adhered to. THE BRITISH TEAM. MATCH AGAINST TARANAKI. (Peb United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 22, The following is the British team to play against Taranaki on Saturday}—■ Full-back, R, Jennings; three-quarters-J. Reeve, O. D. Aarvold, T. Murray, J. Morley; halves, R. S. Spong, N. Poole; forwards—D. E. Knowles, D. Parker, H. O’Neill, B. H. Black, J. M'D. Hodgson. I. Jones, G. R. Beamish, H. Wilkinson. The captain, Prentice, will not play owing to an injured ear, and Sobey, vice-captain, will not be able to play perhaps for two or three weeks because of the injury he received to his knee at Wanganui. The Taranaki team will not be chosen till to-morrow, _ The British team to-day for the first time witnessed the chopping and sawing sport when they visited the Lincoln Rond Club’s carnival, where several champions were competing. A RUGBY SENSATION. DROPPING OF DALLEY. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 22. What amounts to a'Rugby sensation has been caused in Canterbury by the dropping of W, Dailey, the famous international half-hack, from the final All Black trial. He has been playing brilliant club football all the season, and though he was not over-prominent in the second spell of yesterday’s South Island trial, it is contended that this was hut a temporary lapse, and that the selectors have made a grave blunder, similar to that of 1921, when Teddy Roberts was first dropped and then recalled. REFEREES APPOINTED. Mr H. S. Leith, of Wellington, has been appointed referee for the match between the British team and Wairarapa on May 31, and Mr W. B. Fuller, of Christchurch, will control the match at Wellington on June 3.
