GORE TRIALS CONCLUDED. SUCCESSFUL MEETING. (From Our Own • Correspondent.) GORE, May 22. The Gore Sheep Dog* Trial Chib’s tiventy-fifth annual trials were concluded on the Gore Racing Club’s property yesterday. The weather was very Boisterous and unpleasant, and a contrast to the brilliant sunshine of the opening day. Despite this, good entries were received for the concluding events, and the trials were one of the,'most successful in the history of the club. In the Long Pull for All-comers 23'com. peted, as against 15 last year, and in Che event for, dogs -that have never won in open company 16 took part, compared with 18 last year, while 12 competed in the Huntaway, against nine last year. The wethers lent by Mr J. J. M‘Noe (Pukerau) again ran strongly, and the club is indebted to him for the use of his sheep. ■ The work of the judge (Mr David Morgan, Te Houka) was again very satisfactory. and his decisions met with universal approval, " while his assistant (Mr John S. Smith; M’Nab) also carried out his duties in an efficient manner. The officials of the club are to be complimented on the manner in which they carried through.the meeting and, with Mr J. S. Waddell (Waikaka Valley), 'as president, everything' passed off pleasantly. The work of the secretary (Mr J. L. Matheson (Gore) was carried out in an efficient manner. A sheep weight-guessing competition the first day was won by Messrs T. M’Kinnell (Waikaia) and G. Barclay (Wendon), while a similar competition the second day was annexed by Mr Duncan Kerr (Gore). A guessing competition for the weight of a. cake was won by Messrs A. B. M’Kenzie (Heriot) and A.’ 6, Copland (Gore). The concluding results are as follows: HEAD, PULL. AND YARD.
