PARROT DISEASE.
NO CASES IN AUSTRALIA. (Fnoir Oub Own Cobeespondent.) SYDNEY, May 15. The ban on the import to Australia and New Zealand of the South American type of parrot noted for its loquacity and, if brought up on wrong lines, for its profanity, because of the fear'of an outbreak of parrot disease, has caused the authorities at Sydney’s famous zoo, to look into the question. The microbe responsible for the infection is a fearsome-looking thing, but, as far as can be learned, there has not been a case in Australia diagnosed as parrot disease. The zoo cannot recall any case of a human being having been infected by parrots in Australia. Some people believe, with au American authority, that the world has become unnecessarily “ nervy ” about parrot disease. Others, cheek hy jowl in flats or houses with people who own parrots,' believe that the whole of this feathered tribe ought to be either deported, even apart from the possibilities of disease, or so confined that their talking or “ squawking ” will be heard only by their owners.
