AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS

THE LANCASHIRE MATCH. POOR SCORE BY VISITORS. ALL OUT FOR 115. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, May 15. With five wickets down for 83, Australia continued their first innings, which was delayed till after lunch owing to rain. Hopwood completed the rout of the batsmen after Kippax and Fairfax had made an attempt to stem the collapse. Kippax was undefeated, and Fairfax again illustrated his value as a defensive batsman. M'Donald was slower to-day and the batsmen were very careful. Five successive maidens were bowled. However, with Fairfax’s dismissal Hopwood soon got rid of the tail-enders.

Lancashire opened sensationally, Hallows going in the first over. Hornxbrook, bowling with great effect into the wind, completely, tied up the batsmen, and after “ yorking 51 Watson, had two others caught. Five wickets were down for <O, Then Paynter and Eckersley became associated and carried the score past the centufy and were together when stumps were drawn, leaving the game in an interesting position.
